YOUNG ADULT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

In May 2016, 11 young adults left from UUSG in Geneva and traveled five hours to Boone, Iowa. They worked with The Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity chapter and members of the community for three days to build a house for a family of eight. In their three days on the job site, they were able to put up all four exterior walls, the interior walls and the supports necessary for the trusses to be placed.

In June 2017, a similar trip took place.  Many of the same young adults returned to work on another house for the local Habitat chapter.

These trips were fully organized by the young adults who participated, and would not have been possible without the love and support from the UUSG community. Much gratitude goes to each and every person who donated time and money to support them.

These trips were built on the foundation of experiences that these young adults had as high school students on the yearly YRUU Habitat trips sponsored by UUSG.  We are always looking to encourage and support such endeavors in the future.
