Members of all ages can be an active part of our music ministry! There are 3 ways to participate:

RE Music Students, led by Sandra Anderson, perform on Sunday, November 5th.

RE Music Students, led by Sandra Anderson, perform on Sunday, November 5th.

Worship Service Music (all ages)
Our Music Ministry and musicians are an integral part of weekly worship services. Most weekends, someone from the congregation volunteers to sing or play an instrument. More than 40 adults and 30 youth stepped up to present music to the congregation over the course of last year alone. Children, youth, and adults of all abilities are welcome and encouraged to share their gifts. Please contact our Music Director, Tracy Dullea, if you and/or your child are interested in performing during a service or other UUSG event.

Religious Education Music Program (PreK-Grade 5)
This musical component to religious education gives our children the opportunity to learn Unitarian Universalist songs created especially for young people. Each week, before going to classrooms, students will spend 5-10 minutes in the Common Room to learn and sing songs together. Lyrics and melodies will be sent home so young people can sing the songs with their family. Then, twice during the year, the songs will be shared with the congregation during the "For All Ages" segment of the worship service. This program is taught by Sandra Anderson.

Choir (Grade 9-adult)
This year, the choir will perform a total of four times. We are trying a new day and time for rehearsals: 7:00-8:30pm, 2-3 Wednesdays before a performance weekend. Teen youth and adults are welcome to sing for one or all weekends. Sign up here or contact Cynthia Spiegel for questions.

JUly - August 2019 Music News

Music has been in full bloom at our summer services. Mother and daughter Cynthia Spiegel on piano and Sophia Spiegel on cello shared beautifully evocative pieces selected to underscore the guest-in-the-pulpit sermon by Rachel Baruch Yackley, a founding member of Fox Valley Jewish Neighbors.

We were treated to the talented trio of vocalist Irene Frederick backed by Tracey McFadden on guitar and Dave Hanchette on percussion, bringing back some rousing activist anthems. A young talent shining at the piano was Calvin Hruby.

We can look forward to singer Holly Schmidt, the returning cello and guitar duo of Kerena and Paul Moeller, as well as bassist/pianist Jason Niehoff, Cynthia’s voice, plus our gifted keyboard artists – Sandra Anderson, Geoff Pynn and Lynn Fisher McCanne.

Be a part of the joy of music – there is a place for you in our Music Ministry! Students, amateurs, professionals, adults and youth – please contact Music Director Tracy Dullea at today.
