WOW 101

WOW is a ministry designed to reach out to members and friends of the church and help with any practical concerns or problems.  We deliver meals to overwhelmed or ill friends, provide transportation, or simply reach out with care and concern.  Our tasks are as varied as our membership at UUSG. 

Being a Member of the WOW Team: 

Your responsibility as part of our WOW crew is to simply read the WOW requests that come through your email, and "reply to all" if you can help out with a particular need. By responding with "reply to all" you are signaling the team members that this request is covered. If you need additional information than what is provided in the WOW Team email feel free to ask questions about the request and Glenda, Carol, or the person requesting help will follow up with more information so you can better determine if you can help out. 

Carol or Glenda will usually follow up with a summary email detailing and "closing out" a particular request. This is a very informal group. Our mission is to keep it simple, but effective.  

Reaching out to WOW Leadership for help:

If you are in need of some practical help, or if you know of a friend or member of the church that could use assistance, email the WOW Leadership Team at wow@uusg.org.  This initial email will go to Carol, Glenda, Christine Imielski, and Rev. Scot. Let us know how we may help. We may follow up with questions to clarify your request and then Glenda or Carol will post your request to the team via email.  If you have brought a concern for someone else to our attention, we will contact that person with an offer of help as a first step.

This is one of the most rewarding ministries of our congregation. We hope you will reach out and take advantage of your UUSG friends who care and want to assist.  Also consider joining our team.  There is great satisfaction and reward in giving of your time and talents.
